I. A. D. = Johann Albrecht Dorn

In the 18th century the letters I & J were interchangable.

awesome Matt ! I was confident on Rechenpfennig from his lettering, but try as I did,
I couldn't find the match :notworthy:

1732 und 1783 ... ?

It was the IAD that gave it away. Excellent job on the hand sketch! I love it when people give enough information to do successful research.

We can narrow the time down to 1732 - 1774 since that's when Louis XV died. I can't find an exact date.

Very cool. After a storm is a great time to look on the beach.

DCMatt, Great job, thanks. Frank
I think it is brass. Gold doesn't turn black like that.hand print-2_edited-5.webp

This reminds me of a scene from one of my favorite movies: Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail ------- "In Latin, Jehovah is Spelled with an I"
