I am looking to buy a book that will help me identify the coins i find while detecting. I'm interested in colonial - civil war era. I don't really have an interest in newer coins.

Any suggestions???

On a budget to have the basics get the Red Book, no budget Breen's Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins.

Thanks. Breen's is the one I was looking to buy. I just wanted confirmation.

I bought this one - Warman's Coins and Paper Money: Identification and Price Guide, and what can I say, its very popular and very useful. Recommend it to you)
