coin machine score

Hit my local dump bank yesterday. The machine was running very slow and rejecting many coins. It usually is very fast and does not reject much.
I asked the teller as I was getting my money, to check to see what the problem was.
While he was cleaning the wheel, I saw the internal trash tray was FULL of coins. I offered to clean the tray....... Got over $30 and a wheatie..... What a score.... HH Gayle

nice score. I've only started using these machines recently myself (and they sure seem to be more convenient than re-rolling coins) but it seems amazing to me that so many crhers report scores like this and that banks allow customers to keep the coins they find in the machines. Sure seems like another way to score some decent finds.

one of the banks i dump at throw the rejects ( silver) included , in the trash. I always find something when i dump. HH

Bank I dump at has it's sorter behind closed doors in back. Only wonder what is in the reject tray. You get some of these young women tellers probably have no idea what is there. I'd gladly take the "junk"

Ask them. In most banks it simply goes into the trash and if a customer expresses interest they might as well give it to you than take it to the dumpster.

That seems like a typical example of the insane times we live in today. Banks deal all day long in accepting deposits and giving loans in an increasingly worthless fiat currency that is nothing more than non-interest bearing debt notes and they throw the only real money they have in the trash or they exchange it at fv to customers/CRHers. The only value the US dollar has is completely illusionary and as soon as our creditors wake up to this fact then the crisis people think we prevented in this country in 2008 by bailing out the banks and not letting them fail is guaranteed to happen in the future and this time it will be much, much worse and there is nothing the Fed or anyone else can do about it. People's lack of understanding basic economics and money in this country sometimes makes me feel like I'm living in the twilight zone. :icon_scratch:

Sorry for the rant but there is a reason why pm prices are at all-time highs and going much higher. But that's good news for pm investors and CHRers - but bad news for most everyone else.

And I'll have to remember to look for the trash the next time I dump to see if I notice anything.
