OK. The last few posts were about my lastest form of treasure hunting. I was calling it "car washing" but over the last few days, I have been referring it as "snipe-ing". It seems to be exactly what it is that I am doing. Anyway, the coin count stays steady and I had an initial wish list as I sifted through the sandy, stinky, damp crud that I call paydirt. Wheat pennies? CHECK. Silver jewelry?CHECK. Yesterday I found a 14K GOLD crucifix and a 14K GOLD earring. So... CHECK! All I need to find are some silver coins now. This is proof that it is a viable hobby. The car wash people already know this and that is why they have padlocks on their machines. During the last few days of me trying this here in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, I have noticed that the car wash business' lock up their vacuum cleanouts. Gas stations for the most part do not. I am posting a few photos of what I have experienced in the 4 days of snipe-ing. I hope a few of you will at least try it. I have logged in over $80.00 in clad coins so far in 4 days, (with silver and gold as well.)

PHOTOS:
1) Fake ring. Proof they drop them in the car!
2) Coin Op and coin full vacuum units.
3) 5 Gallon buckets of "paydirt"...toe nails and all!
4 & 5) Clad coins
6) GOLD cross and earring found in paydirt. (did I mention its 14K)
7) Sifting and recovering
8) CoinStar with one of the tallies of a vacuum cleanout.
9)More clad coins!

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Just goes to show that there are many more methods of Treasure Hunting out there!

If someone ever questions you just say you were there yesterday vacuuming your car and think you may have sucked up a piece of jewelry you'd lost. I'm sure nobody would give you any grief over doing that.

If you say that then you should probably have your car halfway swept out :)
