Foudnt his coin/medallion in the ayrd to an old farm house dating back to the late 1700's early 1800's, it was down about 8 inches and is the size of a nickel and appears to be either nickel or pewter. It rang in as a nickel with a VDI of 25 on my M6. Any ideas on what it is and the age of it?? ??? :help: Thanks!!!

I think it was exactly the same and in the past few months here in What is it.. A charter member can search key words plow horse token.

I remember searching the net for it but all I could find was this medal with a colonial horse drawn plow.

Crusader...thanks for that, it is definitely the same token/medallion as the one I found today, and I see it was dug in NH so it could be locally made where mine was found today in Maine.

This may be related to Grange/Patrons of Husbandry. . http://www.bethelhistorical.org/exhibits.html

For over half a century, beginning in the 1870s, the Grange ("Order of Patrons of Husbandry") in Maine numbered some 50,000 members in more than 400 locations throughout the State. Active on behalf of Maine's rural populace, the Grange lobbied the Maine Legislature to improve the quality of education in the State's public and vocational schools, and to reform the taxation system to make it more equitable. In addition, as the first major organization in the United States to grant women equal rights, the Grange provided an opportunity for rural females to escape the drudgery of the farm home so they could take advantage of the educational and social aspects of the Order. Based on the book "A Fair Field and No Favor": A Concise History of the Maine State Grange (available in our Museum Shop), written by Bethel Historical Society Executive Director Stanley R. Howe, this exhibit delves into the history and significance of this remarkable organization and its role in Maine's past.

Nice find Mainedigger. Hope you can find out somthing about it. Hope its worth some $$$$$$$ too. Could it be made of brass? I was thinking brass on my xlt will register around 25. Just a thought no expert by any means. Best of luck on the ID. And congrats on a unique find.
