coin star 1859 ih

found this in on the floor next to a coin star
at first i thought it may be a counterfeit due to the thickness
it is .075 thick but that maybe due to the change of material used

That's Cool, nice find ! It definitely looks dug, that's where I take my bad looking clad after cleaning that's not bank worthy. I check the CoinStar machines too when I walk by, no luck yet.

great eye find, congrats! I dug my first fatty IH in 09 and yeah they are alot thicker, I thought I had a token at first. The flying eagles and the first 6 years (I think) of the IH's were a lot thicker than a regular penny. congrats again on a very cool find!

Yep it looks like a good one. The flying eagle pennies and 1859 to 64 Indian head pennies were made of copper/nickle. Sometime in 1864 they changed to all copper. the copper nickle one cents are thicker than the copper.
Cool find.
