Walked into work today and looked in the reject slot of the Coinstar machine at my job,and there was a 1943 steel penny, proof that those machines hate silver coins.

Nice! Ive found couple wheaties by those things as well. Congrats and HH!

I found a 1964 Rosie last week in a Coinstar rejection tray. There is indeed a message reminding you to check the the tray after you dump your coins, but alot of people just ignore it.

is a "steel penny" the same as a "wheat penny"???

Still looking for my first Produce Guy!

is a "steel penny" the same as a "wheat penny"???

In 1943, due to War needs, the U.S. Mint made cents from zinc coated steel. This is a Wheat cent. But not all Wheats are steel. Wheaties were made from 1909 to 1958.

Oh, ok. ive found 3. 1948, 1949, amd 1953. I assume the steel ones are more rare?? How do i tell which one i have?? thanks
