I just got MORE coins at a local antique store. All together I paid $40. These are the coins that I got along with their values.

1872 dime= $18
French Guiana 1789A 2 Sous= $2
Ireland 1820 Penny= ?
Great Britain 1694 Farthing= $45
Essequibo and Demerary 1813 Stiver= $15
Great Britain 1797 Penny= $80

All in all, not too bad of a day!

What are you basing your values on? I know you're enjoying collecting these, but hope you understand how to grade them. One price does not fit all!

Definitely not a good evaluation on my part. The price guide I use doesn't go down as far in condition as the coins are in. Can you guys tell me a good site that shows ALL conditions and prices for those coins?

The seated liberty dime is probably worth around $13 to $15. Here are pictures of the coins...



BTW, can some one tell me something about the Irish coin. I couldn't find anything on ebay or online.

The coin in question, I believe is an Irish harp coin or token from 1820. There are a few varieties with different numbers of strings. I think some are 8 string, some 9 string.

You are thinking of Canadian Bust/Harp Tokens. They are all dated 1820 and appear similar but are distinctly different.

The 1872 dime is worth between melt value and $5 in that condition.

Search Ebay sold listings. Those are pretty low grade and $40 for the group would be on the high side. The prices you quoted are off pretty bad, and the British coins book way higher than they actually sell for. I personally would not be spending money on these or similar, but at the end of the day it's what each person likes.... and collecting coins is not the cheapest hobby in the world.

You keep saying that it is a CANADIAN bust harp token. It isn't. And you specifically said that the bust harp tokens don't say "Ireland" at the top. If you look at my picture, you can SEE that it says "Ireland". So, like I said before, the coin that you are telling me to look at is not the coin that is in the picture.

The 1872 Seated dime is in AG condition and books for ~$6. The Irish token is just that; a holed 1820 One Penny Irish token.

Your One Penny Token / Ireland 1820 is listed here in The Token Book (Withers). It is listed as "R" (rare) and is a neat find But the monetary value would be low since even with R rarity these types of tokens need to have nice grades to get better prices.
