Hopefully not many banks will have them. If a bank does have one, hopefully the fees they charge for using the machine are enough to make people want to go to another bank and exchange coins the old fasioned way.

They charge 8.9 % to process your change? Why would anyone do that? 8.9% is what people want to earn on their investments after a year, not 2 minutes.

I worked at a grocery store a few years back and a steady line of people would be at these machines waiting to cash in their change. I guess some people don't care that they're losing 9 cents for every dollar they put in one of those machines....

I gave it a try and there was one in a new grocery store here in town. That's a first for this burg.

I just heard that Station Casinos, the biggest chain of local casinos in Vegas, which are all coinless, are installing Coinstars in all their properties. Not only that, but the casinos get a 2% cut. Wonder if that's typical of all Coinstar locales?
