Yesterday while drinking a cup of Joe started reading Bill Dancy’s
excellent book,”Discovering Virginia’s colonial artifacts.”
Was on chapter 16,page 210, and saw a photograph of a Candle
snuffer box and bingo made the connection to my whatisit find I made
this past Summer.
Couldn’t figure out what I had until now.
And according to Bill, very few of these Candle snuffers/wick trimmer
Seem to turn up.
Added a photo of what they looked like with the scissor attachment.

That's a great find! I found a peice of one a couple years ago. It was the part your finger goes through. Thought it was a ring at first. It was ID here on t-net. Congratulations!

I agree, they don't seem to turn up here either. I may have had a couple of finger loops??

Yes it’s odd cause almost every household had one
if these Snuffers, but few seem to show up.

Very very nice. I wonder how many have been tossed by careless detectorists that didn’t know what it was.
