Yesterday while drinking a cup of Joe started reading Bill Dancy’s
excellent book,”Discovering Virginia’s colonial artifacts.”
Was on chapter 16,page 210, and saw a photograph of a Candle
snuffer box and bingo made the connection to my whatisit find I made
this past Summer.
Couldn’t figure out what I had until now.
And according to Bill,very few of these Candle snuffers/wick trimmer
Seem to turn up.
Added a photo of what they looked like with the scissor attachment.

Very very nice. I wonder how many have been tossed by careless detectorists that didn’t know what it was.

I discovered what I had after the fact.
