Had a sloppy colonial field hunt with George today. Had some nice finds all together, but my only score was a seated liberty dime. The dime was about 7" down and hit around 12-43/44 on my CTX. I saw it in the hole and knew it was something good. Overall it was a mess fest but George and I had a blast. Thanks Vino.

On the way home I saw a section of a park I hadn't had a chance to search due to permafrost had finally thawed. It was a 10x10 section but I pulled a '44 Merc from the chaotic iron-riddled ground. Then real quick I checked around where I found the SLQ yesterday and boom! A '12 barber dime.

My first trifecta!

Happy hunting

Wow, a pile driver? I'm beginning to wonder what in the world George did to you. He says nothing but I'm beginning to suspect otherwise! Lol

Lol. He keep sending me pics of his finds while I'm still buried in the snow and freezing cold. Come on brother just one pile driver....pleeeeeeease

I won't say yes or George won't want to hang out anymore. Wink! Although that trime he found sure makes me jealous...

And they're not all HIS finds. The seated was mine;)

Not only did you find seated, you found a very early one. They just started that design in 1838. Much tougher to find than the late ones. Most of what I see are the later design with the legends on the obverse. I pulled an 1837 No Stars Obverse last year at one of our club hunts. We have another hunt scheduled this weekend for the same spot. Can't wait to go back.

Thanks, Im very grateful it was early in the seated dime series. Don, as far as your hunt goes - you never know why you're going to find the next time around. George dug that trime in spot he and I hammered with both the Deus, and CTX after he found a cut silver.

Very sweet seated, I would have loved that, congrats!
