COLONIAL HOME KEEPS ON GIVING*LC, IH & SILVER

at 3pm shot up to the red colonial still up for sale guess the sale still aint final so,on a whim i said lemme give it another shot. i don't know how i missed this stuff but i'm sure the soaking rain played a part in lettin em see daylight again.i know i covered this area well since all the coins were found under a huge maple.previous hunts produced silver under this maple.it's pretty iron infested the whole yard.the merc was in the hole with the iron in the pic and still gleaming with mint luster! the conestoga bell was down the bank in the woods laying right on top of ground.a nice 3 hour after work hunt! 1849 LC,1942 merc, silver war nickel,1907 IH and 3 wheaties

I remember the pictures of the house/yard in your old pictures. Burgundy red if I recall.
Regardless, awesome finds.

Love the bell, best find, IMO. Haven't found one like that yet (not broken)

It is easy to miss stuff, especially when there is lots of iron, (and hot rocks) I know, I went to a spot I was to a half a dozen times yesterday, probably the best old site I've come across to date. The site produced at least a dozen coppers, and at least as many buttons. I even gridded it quite well when there was a bit of snow on it. No coins this time, but I did get two buttons, and a couple of copper bits, any of which "could" have been coins. So, like they say, no spot is completely hunted out.

Oh yeah, your large cent, and silver, nice finds too.

Rick

It is amazing that something that has been buried so long can still have mint luster. Must have been lost just after coming out of the roll at the bank. Spectacular!!

You had a great hunt Dave and those are some nice coins there. Those war nickels have an interesting history. HH, Quindy.
