Hey, folks, Colonial Silver Zeus, Colonial KirkPA, and I got out to a new site today.

As Colonial KirkPA already mentioned, it took us about 1.5-2 hours of John Walter-like swinging prior to receiving anything that pertained to the Colonial era (e.g., iron trash, butt-ins, coppas, Spanish wilver, non-glazed pottery). Well, during that 1.5-2 hours of sweeping, I heard Colonial Silver Zeus cussing like 6 drunken sailors. :D I asked, "What's wrong, you looney?" :D He stated, "My f%*^%$# pinpointer is uttting suuuuuuper bad." :D Well, folks, about 5 minutes later, I heard a 210-pound, linebacker-sized lunker say, "You son of a b&^%% take this." :D :D Folks, the Colonial-seeking lunker ran full speed and threw his Vibraprobe pinpointer at a nearby tree. :D :D :D :D :D :D Let me just say that he later snapped the darn thing into two halves soon after. :D :D :D :D :D

Well, folks, after Colonial KirkPA and Colonial Silver Zeus were yelping out their Colonial artifacts, I got a nice "P" on "Penny" reading on my White's XL Pro 6000. I dug out a square nail and, in the same exact hole, I excavated this AWESOME Colonial magnifying glass. :icon_sunny: A square nail in the same exact hole with a Colonial artifact...that's about the 10th time that has happened. :D Folks, the glass is still in it, and it was found in the same area where the coppas were found. :icon_sunny:

This happy gibbon and the other datectateers are going baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack next Sundy (Sunday).

Thanks for looking, fellow metal datecting enthusiasts!

"Hey Snicky Wicky" (spoken like Brian) OOOOF. That's one hell of a relic my boy(I would have said man but you have a way to go there) OOOOF. What a day had by all and this place wasn't at the top of our list. A truelly awesome fall is ahead of us.That magnifying glass will help you in many ways in this hobby. Or at least we can use it on a sunny day to light a celebratory cigar if we forget our matches or lighter. That is a very unique find in anyones book. I would rather find that than the half cent since I found 11 draped bust in a year and a half. If you remember I even found an identicle dated half cent. We are on a colonial roll my boy.

Schnitzie Witzie (spoken like Brian), :D :D

I am suuuuuper satisfied with this find today, you looney oyster. :D I am just suuuuuuper glad that I didn't shatter the glass while excavating the historic relic. :D

Yup, I see another KILLER fall coming. I see more of those historic coppas in the near metal datecting future.

Heck, you are the Draped Bust king. Anyone who finds 11 or 12 of those buggards in 1.5 years has to be. :D

how would you date a magnifying glass?? This is one I found in an area with a LC (no date) and the other artifacts shown. I have no idea on how old this is...any thoughts???

Since it was found in the same exact area as the coppas and, considering that it was over 5 inches deep, I have determined it to be a period artifact. Your artifact could be as old as the large cent that you found.

I've pondered that, but I have decided to keep it just as a display item. I don't want to drop the little buggard and shatter the ancient glass. :D

Thanks, Mark, for the reply.

Yup, it still does a greaaaaaaat job of magnifying. :D I put it up to a 1999 Jefferson nickel and it did a suuuuper job. :D

Now, get back out in the field and dig us some more Old Copper Culture artifacts. :icon_sunny:

Albert, it is definitely not copper, so it must be silver or silver-plated. It was in the same hole with a square nail, so the reading couldn't have been that accurate.

Thanks for the reply, Mr. King of the Calvert Store Digs!

Thanks, Jeff.

It is definitely my most unique relic ever dug. I am going to post a picture of it in its final resting place later on today.
