I dug this today at my early 1800s site. I've found some nice post colonial and colonial stuff at the site. When I dug this I thought it was modern trash, but later in the day I realized it appears to be silver, with hand engraved designs on the mounts. The question is what was it used for and what did it mount to? The design on it looks similar to a bible clasp I dug a few years back.

Hm.. interesting. Must be something pretty significant or important if it was made out of silver. Im sure someone knows :icon_thumright:!
