Found this today at a colonial cellarhole, Not sure if it is pewter, lead, or tin. Everything i've found has been no later than early 1800's. Just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before. I'm assuming it is a bust of washington because of the axe. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Great silver buckle :icon_thumleft: no insult intended :icon_scratch: but George Washington is a bit of a stretch ... he does resemble Ben Franklin :dontknow: perhaps " with some imagination " Alfred Hitchcock " Good evening " ::) dawg

The buckle is silver, I thought it may be washington because of the axe. Not sure when that legend started. It looks to me that you can see an eyeglass frame on the side of the head, which wouldn't be washington. I don't know what it is or what it's purpose was.

nice colonial relics right there! amazing buckle!

i found the same kind of buckle the other day but it has no silver on it.. i didn't know what it was until i read the replies of your post. i have no clue who's face that would be.. cool finds..

I can see a slight resemblence of Washington. Looks like, from the back, maybe it was a pin of some kind.
Can't help more than that. Also, nice buckle.

That is an awesome buckle. The other item I have no idea. :icon_thumright:
