A friend of mine dropped this by today and asked me if I knew what it was.
Not being up on old pistols I told him to leave it and I would see what I could find out.
He found this gun about 50 years ago around a old cotton gin in Russelville, Alabama. He said it was wrapped up in some cloth and he pulled the cloth and it came out of the dirt.
From what I can tell it is a 1851 Colt Navy. I'm curious about the markings on the cylinder. Can anyone help me here? Any thoughts ?? On top of the barrel is says A
?? Saml Colt New York City
Thanks for looking,
