Nice to get two! The "odd" one may have been flattened deliberately, at least from my angle it looks like it's been flattened, a common occurrence. It's probably what they call a Confederate local. Nice...

That is what I thought however the A looks nothing like any others? Both sides of A are equal in size bottom looks like it almost connects ? Not even sure I see a cross bar . And holding it does not seem damaged other than back rusted out

I don't think it is an "A" button.. some kind of symbol for something. Cool duo of buttons though.

Nice finds. Here is my steel back A button I found in the rubble after some old homes were bulldozed. Yea the one is much different but I dont know much about them.

To my eye, your button's letter A actualy does have a thicker/wider leg on the right. I suggest you carefully clean ALL of the crud out of its back, which will reveal small details which are presently obscured.
