A sad but fun day today..
Took the day off to get one more good dig in before the big green machines take over the fields. As usual my goal is to dig colonial relics and coins but the field I was on today was a Civil War hotspot so I figured I'd aim for a good button. The day started off great by digging a few sharps right off the bat. Then I found a really ornate button and a couple flat buttons. As I headed deeper into the field I heard a loud rumble and saw dust ball heading my way......dang it.....a fertilizer truck! I initially thought to just lay down in front of it in protest but I figured no one would understand my cause so I moved on to a remote field on the other side of the property. This field was loaded with brick and iron and I started to pull pistol bullet after pistol bullet then I got a very shallow overload and figured it was can slaw but I was pleasantly surprised to pull out a block I coat button. This property was mainly a union camp but I guess some boys from the good side stayed there as well at some point. After a handful more sharps and a 2 cent coin I decided to call it quits since my face was on fire from the wind.
The evil farmers are in motion so I guess it's time to cool off my coil and call it quits for the season. It's time to hit the books and find some 1600 sites for next winter

I'll be pulling the batteries out of my machine in a couple of weeks as well. Anyways, congrats on a awesome season!
