Confederate reunion medal

. Found this last Saturday in a plantation field with my brand new deus. Can't wait to see what comes up next. Can anybody offer advice on cleaning. Newbie here. Thanks for looking. Was badly bent by the plow and decided to straighten it out myself. Against all odds I think it turned out pretty good.

Not knowing what it is made of (from your picture) I would start off by soaking it in warm water with dish soap and gently (using a sponge) rub it and see if it cleans up. I would then follow put it in a bowl with vinegar and let it sit overnight.

heat some peroxide to boiling in microwave. Then drop the relic in and leave it for an hour or so. Use a toothbrush on it. Vinegar might remove the patina.
