Cool Black Bird!

I just got out of a sale, and I got this really cool statue. It looks like the kind of thing that gets passed at a white elephant gift party, but I think it's a lot older than just some random house furnishing. It looks like an old hawk, like an Egyptian revival style one, upright. It's totally black, like it's been painted over, but you can tell there's gem like stones or something for eyes and on its breast, underneath all those layers of paint. And it's heavy, like lead heavy. Can wait to get it up on the bench at home and see if I can nick a few layers of paint off of a bottom corner and see what underneath.

I'll try to post pictures when I get to a PC (NEVER works from my phone).
