Went out to the road to get the mail, and this critter was walking along the top of the mailbox. Told it to stay put, and I went back and got my camera, hoping it would still be there when I returned. Figuring it was trying to get to the tree, I pulled down a branch from our cherry tree and let it crawl up on a leaf. Looks like a bug that eats other bugs, so don't think it'll harm the tree. I hope.

Any idea what it is?

It is a cool bug, I agree! Google search pulled up a few diff wasps but it looks most likely a Dusona Wasp; had never heard of it before. Thanks for posting him/her!

Hi mate. Appears visually to match the following given the orange/yellow legs and antenna. Parasitic wasp.

Well, my brother from down under, I think you nailed it. Pictures sure match, but the only issue with it is that one is only found in Europe, and I'm in the far NW corner of the USA. :icon_scratch:

I may have a go at trying to catch this thing tomorrow, providing it hasn't gone far from where I left it. Although I'm roughly 35 miles from the coast; Seattle and Vancouver B.C. are major seaports, and although inland, we're sorta in the middle of both. We've got enough invasive species around here, and sure don't need another.

Good thing those Murder Hornets have been destroyed around there and a few here..

Imagine it landed on you and laid an egg under your skin, and when the egg hatched the larva ate you from the inside out... that is what the poor host insect has to deal with. Let's just pray these wasps never see humans as their host. But if they do, at least we'll get a pretty good body horror documentary on the Discovery Channel out of it. 😄

Thanks for tonight's nightmares👍

Definitely looks closer than what Google lens came up with for me! Good job matching
I often think its the luck of the draw with a lens search. I do get better results though I think downloading an image, then opening it in my photos and going for the search there rather than a direct one.
