Yesterday went out with Michaelangelo on the first hunt for 2010. We went back to an area in the woods we had searched last summer and back then we couldn't locate the old home site(s). Well, we found it this time around and it was fun to detect.

Found a Baldwin lever-latch for a refrigerator with patent date: April 12, 1892. Refrigerator invented by Carl Von Linde in 1876, so a cool early refrigerator relic :icon_thumright: Electrical refrigerator came on the market in 1913.

Here's the patent:

http://www.google.com/patents?id=Pr...=1#v=onepage&q=baldwin April 12, 1892&f=false

We didn't find any coins or buttons this time out, however did pick up some nice bottles.

Thanks for looking and Happy hunting :icon_thumleft:

Cool finds, I like the refrig. latch.HH.....

Some cool stuff. I like the car tags. When I dig decent ones I hang them on the wall on the shop side of my barn

IS,
Very neat finds. I love finding old decorative pieces like that Baldwin piece. They look great just mounted on an old piece of weathered wood. :icon_thumleft:
Congrats,

Nice finds.

:hello:

Looks like a nice place to be out searching :headbang: great ID on the latch

Thanks all the replies :icon_thumright:

The latch ID was pretty easy with all the clues :D

I think the Partner's tag is a hotel tag. Could it be Planters Hotel listed in the 1886 Greensboro business directory :dontknow:

I like the ideas of displaying finds on wood or barn wall. Wife consider most of my finds trash so not many displays at home. I keep and display most of my finds in the office :D

Nice flask, and the tags are really cool. :icon_thumright:

Those are some really neat finds! What does it say on this piece?

Thanks creskol. It says pepsi-cola and the style is 1940's. Thought it may have been from a bottle carrier.

Neat finds, a guy doesn't always have to find coins & buttons to have a great hunt!

Very true Chris :icon_thumright: A few coins and buttons likely on this site once the bigger targets cleaned up so to speak.

That latch is top notch! The bottles are cool also! The Pepsi Cola thing looked like a bottle opener. That's pretty cool too!

I can see the wall mount bottle opener thought/idea same time frame. This Pepsi piece is pot/white metal and measures 2.5" x 9.5".
