Coolest find of my day--knights Templar

[baylorhall]

Found a few fun items today but first I want to find out about this Knights Templar piece. Might have been a pin or something. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Definitely a really cool find. I'm hoping someone can give you some info about it, I'm curious myself.

I can't tell you the date of your piece but I can say that the Knights Templar this emblem is associated with are part of the Freemasons.
Here's the Wiki page that can explain more about them:

Nice find baylorhall!

[Danny1413]

It's a Vintage Masonic Scottish Rite K.T. Duquesne No.72 Commandery Cross Medal found one that looks like it on ebay.

Danny nailed it!

Now you'll have to go back and find the top part..

Welcome to the site Danny!

Great catch Danny and welcome to the site. I do think the person that listed the one on ebay got the identification wrong but the piece is exactly what the op has a part of.
A few of the reasons I think the one on ebay is misidentified are:
1)The Scottish Rite has a double headed eagle as its symbol.
2)The Degree of Knight of the Temple (Order of the Temple), an Order of the York Rite has the Cross and Crown as it's symbol.
3)A Knights Templar commandery is traditionally the final body a member joins in the York Rite
4)I believe the Duquesne No. 72 commandery is a Knights Templar commandery.

Here's a link to the one on ebay:
