Hello T Net 10-19-20-21- 2011 :icon_sunny: Sunny seventies Dawg here :hello: Wed. was a half day recon mission in the pouring rain . Searched for hours ... nothin' but iron and shot gun shell tops . Smelled funny when returned with junk . Thursday , I hit an area of an old 1760's vanished long ago home . A random search yielded some iron and sore dogs , dead batteries , nothin' but a Royal butt kicking ... 40 mph sustained winds did keep the flying insects away but only small traces of what was supposed to be a old home After multiple different sector searches I left with nothing but sore muscles , wasted gas , a beaten dawg :P reaking with a distinctive odor of dismal failure . :-\ Ready to bag this site & look elsewhere at this time. :-\ Last night I knew something was wrong , :sign13: a quick call to the land owner put me in the right area . Seems I was 100 yards off track . Today ......... I kicked some Colonial home site A$$ HH Thanks for stopping in , dawg

Dawg, oh um excuse me , Mr. Dawg, that's a Hot A$$ Mess you found there. The kind of treasure I dream of. So many hidden stories with each piece. Just think about all the Treasaure we have all come within a 100 Yrds. or less of and had no clue. Nice hunting and thanks for saving our history.

These are the lice combs we find down here in Civil War camps and at some colonial house sites. They would use them to comb the nits and adult lice out of their hair:

(Colonial) Archaeological Explorations at Stenton.........."Additional objects of interest include a bone toothbrush and five bone and horn combs. Commonly called “lice combs” or “head combs”, these small instruments had two opposing sides of narrow teeth. The narrowness of the teeth assisted in the removal of louse and their eggs from individual strands of hair, however the combs were also used for everyday grooming....." http://stenton.org/index.php/histor...ation/archaeological-explorations-at-stenton/

Thanks , Rob :sunny: dawg

Dawg, looks like October has been great for you! Love the condition for the most part of the finds, just got to love the soil in South Jersey at most places..

(I'm out of commission for the month, which kind of sucks since October/November are usually good months for me)

Don
