Trying to help my buddy id this copper coin or token.

I've spent quite some time looking to id this but I've come up empty.

I think I see the fancy "R" of an "RH" token minted by businessman Richard Hurd in Montreal and dated 1814.

Thanks. I looked at that but the script is more centered and this one has the script closer to the edge.

It's about 1", weight is unknown, but I'd say probably the same as any US Copper or KGI, II or III. Dug in CT.

Thank you! An inch is about 25-26mm which would be a little small. I think that would rule out the Anglesey token b/c those are good sized at 28mm+ and usually a heavier weight than the typical copper.

I'll add too that those tokens also usually have edge lettering. Is there any lettering on the edge of this coin?

I can't figure out the squiggly side, but I think I may see part of the bottom of a bell on the other side...
... or I'm just seeing things. 🤓

That's what I thought at first, but after looking at dozens of pics of bells & busts on coins, it looked more like the bottom edge of a bell. YMMV.

I won’t disagree….my first guess was neckline, but probably am wrong…..short answer, yes there is/was something on that side.

It's hard to tell with the pics provided but this may be an Ottoman Empire coin. They were minted in hundreds of varieties over multiple centuries and widely cirrculated around the world. These type coins are difficult for the Western eye to identify - even when they are in good condition.
