Out to a corn field yesterday afternoon with lots of bits and pieces showing up; the two most interesting are this plated copper plate and a one-inch diameter lead disk with two holes.
IMG_8175.webpIMG_8176.webp Thought the lead piece may be a hem weight but a fellow digger has identified it as the spinning piece to a whirligig ( age unknown)

Out today to Druid Hill Park (in Baltimore City) for an hour and a half on a spring-like afternoon and along with 3 wheats dug these 3 Indians.

Thanks xcopperstax. Very thankful to have dug this. The farm field is part of a county park.

Thanks Trezurehunter. Recently, I saw a cuff link posted (dug here in Maryland); it used a Barber dime as the button portion. Several years ago I dug a button that had been fashioned from a half reale.

Thanks BLK HOLE. AT this rate, I'll need a new shovel later this year. Amazing how these wear down.

Thanks Jamie. Looks like the Club hunt will be under snow, we'll see. I'd like to go but would find it unlikely to be able to make a Sunday date, if it is a no-go on Saturday. I'm up for a hunt. I will be in touch.
