Went back to the stubble field, with different coil, and an idea where to start on the 1876 home site................................bingo first hole, a 1864 2 cent piece, kinda rough, but my oldest coin to date. Then not 20 ft away a 1865 Indian, my oldest Indian to date! Found lots of square nails:BangHead:, and a few other pieces 102_8536.webp102_8539.webp102_8538.webp This is going to be a good spot :laughing7: Not one pull tab:hello2:

Spot definitely has potential, and if those square nails were brass then its pretty cool also, I dont mind finding those at all, the iron ones can be a pain though!

It must be, becouse all the others were rusty, but they had a sweet tone:BangHead:

Nice green coins you got there. Well done my man!

Congratz! Keep at it, there's more to be found!

Yep, , I would spend some time at that spot.
Congrats on some nice finds.

Awesome, I got my 1st 2 center in my cornfield also 1864

Congrats

Sweet finds. Now go do it again! I have gotten so many awesome coins from the fields. Keep Swinging!!

Don't ya love when the day starts out like that! Congrats!

Yes I do, could not tell what it really was till I got home..........................but I knew it was my oldest.

Congrats on some nice finds.

It is within one of our 300+ acre County parks, some one leases some of the fields, so I have years to hunt it, around the crops he plants

Congrats on your IHP and oldest coin to date. Good luck on future hunts. Field hunting rocks!

I think it's fun to consider that Abraham Lincoln came up with the idea of putting "In God we Trust" on our coinage during the war. Perhaps he touched this coin? lol
like I said, fun. Congrats of some sweet finds, hopefully the first of many! HH

People outside the hobby always give me a look of disbelief when I tell them what I have found in corn fields. Congrats on your finds.

Congrats on those coins, the relics are cool too. Can you believe that when that two cent piece was lost they were considered common pocket change. I never could imagine using any kind of two cent coin for transactions these days, most people haven't even heard of them either.

Gotta love the absence of pull tabs. Looks like you found a sweet spot. Congrats on pulling your oldest coin and your oldest IHP. I love seeing either one of those in the hole. LCs have been scarce, I only pulled two in 18 months.

It is my first 2 cent piece. My ears are loving the quiet of an old field, compared to the trashy parks, I have been hunting!!

The 2 cent piece is a sweet find. My fave is anyplace that has more good targets than trash.

Nice finds! It's nice to find a place with no evil ones. Looking forward to future post.

Awesome, it shows that research pays off no matter where you are. Nice find!
