Just seeing if this is an old cotter pin for primitive equipment and not something else

I think it is a fence staple.

Not a cotter pin. Could be a homemade type pin (per ticndig). Don’t think it’s a fence steeple either….too long and one side is wavy

Either way my guess it goes in the round file
