If you meant Los Angeles, February is one of Southern California's rainy months and temps may drop into the 40's, and at times lower, depending on the precise location.

There will be snow in the surrounding mountains that ring the valley.

Dress in layers. Umbrella may be a good idea.

This is an area where you can be surfing at the beach and an hour later be skiing in the mountains.

Be viewing the mountains through the Palm trees and an hour later be viewing the ocean through the Pine trees.

Hollywood is inland a bit from the ocean and somewhat protected by the local surrounding hills. Expect mid 40's in the low range, and maybe upwards to the mid 60's daytime, if it isn't raining.

A light jacket for the days and maybe a sweatshirt or light sweater as a second layer. May even experience short-sleeves in the daytimes and possibly get a California tan.

From experience, having lived near LA my entire life, I would plan for both. defintitely bring a warm jacket and long pants however, you may want to pack a light jacket in case it does warm up. My wife and I were married in February so we did A LOT of weather research since it was planned for outdoors. We had a beauitful, sunny warm day in the low 70's. Best to be prepared for both.

its for a media studies course(directors workshop) visiting film sets!

never had school trips like that in my day
