Could this be a primitive tool?

Hello,

I grew up near Ft. Campbell KY on the TN/KY state line in the US. As a child I found this rock which appears to have been shaped as a primitive tool. Sadly my young daughter found my rock collection one day when I was at work and painted it (and broke it). But I wanted to post this here on the off chance that any of you have seen anything similar. It may just be a happy coincidence that it fits perfectly into the palm of my hand but wanted some expert opinions. Would also like to know if there is a non-destructive way to remove the layer of paint from it.

You could remove the paint with paint stripper -- but I wouldn't. It's not a primitive tool, just a rock. And your daughter has made it into a treasure.

It's just a rock and any rock you pick up will fit in your hand. That's pretty cool what your daughter did with it. Don't remove that paint, hang on to it. Keep it.

Agree with RGiNN, removing paint will not reveal an artifact, it will have much more value as something your daughter made as she grows up.
