Counterfeit or Error? 2008 Hawaii Quarter

I got this from the change machine at a laundromat. It doesn't appear to be a proof, but there is no copper ring on the edge.

Thoughts??

That's weird the silver ones are usually S marked. Does it sound like silver when you drop it on the table? Here's a post on here about a guy who had the same question no real answer though http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/c...te-quarter-ever-minted-i-found-one-today.html

if it sticks to a magnet it's plated in chrome if it doesn't it's more than Likely plated in silver or somebody took a silver marker to the rim

Can't tell you if it's silver or not but it's for sure not a proof, those are always S mint mark.

its silver plated. countless of them in circulation cause people plate them then just spend 'em. this comes up all the time
