Awesome finds, that place was loaded! Great video too, You could tell there was no deception or staging, you could see the imprint that the coin left behind when you lifted it from the hole. Nice that you don't wipe the silvers too, nothing will ruin them quicker than that :) Those 1822's always seem to come out nice, I've dug like 4 of them and they all have nice denticals even if the rest of the coin shows some wear.

Don't know if you have the Sheldon book for the large cents but I gave your 1802 a quick check. I have determined that in this swamp of trivial criteria that rates a large cents rarity squatteth the toad of truth and it looks to me like it's an S-236 unfortunately only an R-1 variety. (if you don't watch Big Bang Theory or understand this google Sheldon toad of truth)

Thanks, Yup have the Sheldon book but didn't look for the 1802 yet. Heres an 1800 I think is a Sheldon 205 very scarce that I dug a couple of weeks ago. What do ya think? P1030271.JPG P1030276.JPG

That ones a beauty, I think you could be right but man the 1800 is a tough one to figure. There is 2 things that I see that doesn't look quite right for the P reverse, one is how close the leaf that points to the O in one cent is and the other is if you do like Sheldon says for reverse Q and follow the upper left berries stem it seems to point between the F and A. Hard to tell from a picture but are you seeing any of the die cracks he's mentioning for either reverse? Did you look at these, http://www.largecents.net/collection/coinpics/s205.jpg http://www.largecents.net/collection/coinpics/s206.jpg

I do see what your saying and the 1800s are the hardest to match up But the 205 matches mine the best out of all variety's that I can see. I used pics from the Husak collection. I think its an early die state so no die cracks http://www.largecents.net/husak/s205.jpg
