Finally found my way back down to the farm to dig in the midden.....along with another artifact hound. He broke the awl digging it out. And thinks the drilled piece is from a bobcat. We also found some broken artifacts along with a whole knife. Plus lots of pottery. I think he is hooked on digging now. HH.

Wow really like the drilled tooth!!! Way to go..

That drilled tooth has got to be a rare find, right? That is one of the coolest things I've seen on here.

I'd throw that thing around my neck and rule the planet! :)

Thanks for the replies. I have found around 3-4 of these small drilled teeth in this midden. They are fragile to do anything with but display. Was to dry for digging last year plus my back was out. Now it won't quit raining. Either feast or famine.

I thought the same thing about a necklace when I saw it too but the same dilemma as putting a favorite point around my neck..... Would hate to ever loose it or break it

I hear ya . I have a necklace I made with some Columbia river beads on a leather cord. The clasp is heavy duty (a fishing swivel) so it's not breaking. :)

Would be cool to do a point somehow, without modifying it of course. hmmmmmmmm

Catherine, how small is that tooth? Like an inch long?

Its probably under a inch long. Here is a artifact that I did make a necklace out of for my daughter......made of cannel coal.

Very cool, I really like it! How did you shape it?

So awesome to see people making things like that. A little ironic saying so on a website, but I'm a bit sick of all the technology taking over everyone's mind!

Great finds! Way to go!Love the Awl.
