Earlier this month I was detecting a pasture site and started down a cow path. My first and only good signal for the day was an 1868 Shield nickle. Today, I went back and hit a different section of the pasture. Again I started down a cow path and my first signal was an 1858 half dime in very nice shape except for a hole through lady Liberty's head. About 15 feet away i dug an eagle coat button. That is the 5th half dime and 6th eagle from this site although the other halfs and eagles came from different fields.
The weird thing is, there was no civil war action here other than the Andersonville prison which is about 35 miles away. And, I am finding Union buttons when my hunting buddies have found Confederate buttons. Oh well, I'll keep it. My CS button is out there somewhere.

:thumbsup:Nice finds ... the buttons out there waiting

If you are finding civil war relics AND old coins there then you have an excellent site to hunt. I would go back and go back again. You did good! Tennessee digger

YES I ALSO AGREE : You have found an awesome site keep it up [save that history]. Usually s/e Georgia is well known for it's C.W. History. NICE RELICS...
