Hey Ya'll. My newest recruit found this old metal Cracker Jack whistle on her old farm. I was wanting to find out as close to possible what years these particular style whistles were distributed as prizes in the Cracker Jacks boxes. I know they made several and hope a "Cracker Jack" specialist can get me in the ballpark to add a little information to be placed inside a nice wooden shadow box I got her to display these cool old relics from days gone by. I found a very nice example on E-bay to add to the display. I believe the two are identical and from the same date range. I have seen others that look close but, have a larger hole to hang from a necklace. Thanks for any information you can provide. Kurios1

That's really cool you got her a display shadow box, I loved cracker jack when I was a kid, I wish I could remember the prizes but between my 4 siblings and cereal box prizes I cant . I bet that wouldn't be to hard to restore, with a little work, and paint, Four Vintage CRACKER JACK Toys Premiums Prizes Premiums Metal & Plastic Whistles | eBay

Thanks for the link. I just purchased that lot of Cracker Jack whistles for the shadow box. Once I get it all together I'll post a picture. Thanks Tommy!:headbang:

According to this ebay sellers listing, RARE 1930's CRACKER JACK TIN TOY TOP, WHISTLE GREEN METAL PREMIUMS LOT (3) pcs
The "Cracker Jack " book by Larry White lists these premiums in the $35 - $50 range as a lot. The book also indicates that these are from the 1930's.
edit- This thread got me to wondering. As a collector, buyer and treasure hunter of many things, I have acquired a large amount of what one would term vintage junk drawer items that consist of many various little curiosities. I wonder how many of the little gumball machine toys I have are actually cracker Jack prizes? I bet more than I think after the little searching I just did.

Lol! :laughing7: Yeah the prizes are so cheap now that they are ALL made of paper and even in the large sized bags!

I haven't eaten a box of Cracker Jacks in 10 years plus but I heard they stopped putting prizes in the boxes nowadays?

Cracker Jack's Prize In The Box Will Now Be Digitized : The Two-Way : NPR

Oh for "F"'s SAKE!!! Just what the average indoctrinated little zombie kid attached to a cell phone via umbilical chord needs is another app for their hand held mind control device!?! Although I haven't eaten Cracker Jack in decades I will now make certain to NEVER eat that stuff again. I used to love it growing up and the treasure hunt for the prize inside was all part of the fascination. Popcorn, peanuts, molasses and NO prize... That's what you get with Cracker Jacks! :laughing1:
I protest! :protest: The name "Cracker Jacks" is racist! :violent1: :laughing7:

Probably changed the recipe since back in the day too. Added GMO's and female growth hormones to turn our little boys into "daisies" and girls into Proverbs 7 creatures.
