I've been twice, both times I searched for three days. And nope, I didn't find one, either. The first visit I walked over a half carat tea colored diamond that the woman behind me picked up. (Dangit!) The second time four diamonds were found while I was there. They blow a horn when one is found. Basically, you can either walk along looking for one after the rains, or you can dig. Either one is a numbers game. The more material you move, the better your chances. I have been trying to get back there for years, but it never seems to work out. I keep trying to strategize as to the method that would give me the best chances of finding one, but when I get there you are faced with the reality that it is just going to be hard physical work. What has occured to me however, is that the Little Missouri River is immediately south of the Park. Perhaps the glaciers during the ice age carried some diamonds into the river. Did the glaciers advance that far south? I would love to dredge it. Surely this has occured to someone else. Its funny you posted this week, I was planning to go there this next week but instead, I had to replace the heat pump in my house. Oh, well, I'll just keep dreaming...
