Creek Hunt Knife Aug 23rd

Hello,
It's been awhile since I've had something to put on. This is a knife my son & I found today in a new part of a creek. I spotted it from like 5 or 6 feet away but wanted him to find it so he could train his eye!

I held it up to the sun & you wouldn't think that the dark flint would be partially translucent.

Anyone have an idea what kind of knife it is?

It's really thin! I haven't measrured the thickness but if I had to guess I would say 1/8" to 3/16"?
So is it a knife or point?
When we first spotted it I thought it could be a point but we pulled it & I saw the base & was thinking it kinda has a knife shape?

It looks like a knife, and one helluva knife it is. Allen points are pretty rare and very desirable. They have had many names over the years, and were even referred to as a "Yuma" in certain locations. The oblique parallel flaking on them from the top left to bottom right is pretty characteristic of them and in my opinion they are one of the finest worked point types you can find. Even though they were named for the Jimmy (James) Allen site in Wyoming, they are found in most plains states. The Sloan is pretty much it's eastern equivalent, as the Hardin is the eastern equivalent to the western plains Scottsbluff. All are early archaic and share a similar age.

Plainview, McKean, Dalton and many other lanceolates are often mistaken for Allen points. Maybe it's out of hope, since Allen seems to be a more desired "collectable" name. It's similar to how so many other lanceolates turn into unfluted Clovis points

Again, nice find....keep hunting that creek!
