Since y'all r so good at identifying rocks, I thought maybe y'all could use a challenge. All I know is that it's definitely a rock. Don't think it's possible to "work" a rock into this shape to make an artifact but also don't see how "nature" could shape creek rock like this either. Tried to take pics at all angles to show how rock is shaped. Good luck on this one - can't wait to hear y'all's ideas.

Looks like that light fluffy limestone that blows out of caves and found in creeks. Is the stone real light?

It's pretty light but definitely solid. Could be limestone - so u think it's nature shaped?

i think an odd shaped piece but just a rock????

Kinda looks like a tuber type plant just fossilized

Looks like the limestone I see in the creeks around here. All kinds of shapes as it erodes from the current washing over it. We call it creek rift raft fools ya sometimes.

I agree. We have a few creeks around here where you can find limestone formations just like that one. Maybe not as many nodules still adhered to it as that one, but still the same types of stones. Definitely natural.

For sure natural, cool find. Put it in the rock garden

The limestone theory makes sense for sure. I knew it didn't look like it had been "worked" on but really funky shape and angles for an ol creek rock. Think I'll use as a paper weight on desk at work and call it Sitting Rock. Hahaha! Get it sitting rock..... Haha . I know. I know pretty lame but I still crack myself up sometimes :) :) :) :)

Good one. I did want to say I find that in the field sometimes where I find other artifacts in what I believe is camp sites. Its a rough texture stone as in the cortex which would be great for sharpening awls but on the inside there is flint. Always good to ask and it did have a nice shape like a bird, rock
