Joke of the Day - - Have a great week -
King Ozymandias of Assyria was running low on cash after years of war with the Hittites. His last great possession was the Star of the Euphrates , the most valuable diamond in the ancient world. Desperate, he went to Croesus, the pawnbroker, to ask for a loan.
Croesus said, "I'll give you 100,000 dinars for it."
"But I paid a million dinars for it," the King protested. "Don't you know who I am? I am the king!"
Croesus replied,
"When you wish to pawn a Star, makes no difference who you are..............."

Cool buddy. You know what they say after a big storm surge, the treasure hunting is ripe on the Treasure Coast. Hope everybody fairs this well. I know the gubment has to be cautious. I just called a friend of mine that lives beachside. He has "mandatory evacuation" he said "nope" ain't going..... I think they sometimes over react to these things especially since they didn't act during Hurricanes Andrew and Katrina in Louisiana.....

I'm hoping it's all a overreaction. I was in your area during hurricane Wilma and it really was no big deal
I hope damage is minimal...

Wind and hydraulics can wreak havoc.
Complacency can occur when frequent warnings have minimal results ,but keep a weather eye out and prepare for infrastructure down time BEFORE you have to deal with it , for me anyway.

Met the neighbors to the north of my hunting property acquisition. The ol man said to run fast across his field if on it cause he has a shotgun. ( Funny thing to tell a one legged guy).
Then said to stop for coffee.
Will need to check when weather goes bad to see if they are squared up come winter. Independence is great ,but some times folks need help ,even with prior preparations when they get old.

Stay safe coastal areas ,at least be ready to hunker down and deal with disruption.

Generators need fuel and a safe operation. Not always a simple matter when it is wet or raining. Fumes have caused grief when used in or too near confined spaces.

Most things though folks can have squirreled and simply rotate their stock of things they often consume anyway. Water, non perishable food for a week or two, toilet paper , a practised camp stove and fuel or open fire cooking experience if conditions allow , beware gas leaks...
A tent, a few tarps and stakes can provide cover and temp repairs.
My genny used to go under a tarp angled off a fence.
I'd keep the boats close if flooding were a concern, though fortunately no flooding concern here.

Carpe Diem good one..... lately I've been thinking Carpe Juggullem Seize the throat! Hahaha!!!!

As you may have heard,

There has been a spate of potentially nefarious "Clown" sightings across the US lately.

This humble soul wonders when they might join together and form "gangs" of roving clowns.

If and when this comes to fruition,

I MUST remind everyone to....

"GO FOR THE JUGULAR!"

Best Wishes to All!

Last night, after a bottle of STOUT Portuguese Port and a great meal....

Salad, a filet, King's Hawaiian rolls, Brussels sprouts and a plum to lighten the strength of the Port for dessert.

A typical "Scott Dinner" in the Mountains!

Best,

Scott

Scott,

You're eating better than most rich folks.

Regards + HH

Bill

Rich Folks?

When I shop for my meager meals in the grocery store,
I'll "Cruise" the meat cases just to see what the rich folks eat.

But, you know that I'm a "penny-pincher," don't you?

Perhaps I'll die rich....:icon_scratch:

Now THERE'S something for me to think about....

Best,

Scott

By the way, Uncle Bill,

I don't understand why you haven't got my mailing of the peppers.

Perhaps a "Customs Canine" sniffed the envelope and became "overcome" with the strength.

If so, the envelope was probably opened VERY CAREFULLY.

Strong peppers, Dig?

Hope that my peppers make it to you soon for Fall Chili and other dishes!

Best Wishes,

Scott
