My favorite community park bought another old farm to add to to their trail system. They've started clearing and grading part of the property for the trail extension so I decided to hit it this morning before the Harvey rains arrive. Lots of interference from overhead and potentially underground lines, so I had to run at half power to be able to hear any targets. Got 2 great signals in the matted down tall grass. First one. Still has the klanger inside and gives a nice low cowbell sound (almost looks like the klanger is a rounded stone??)
Then found a partial crotal with the number 10 stamped on it.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504365767.677155.webp
Here's the family of crotal bells from the last month at this old lost farm community in the park woods.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504365836.329367.webp
Hopefully the family will continue to grow.

Good luck this weekend!!

Congrats! Crotal (Petal Bells) are awesome to dig!

Great finds. Congrats!

I love crotal bells. Very cool old relics. Nice when you get them intact. You have a nice collection started there. That number 10 is HUGE!:icon_thumright:

ALWAYS NEEEET TO FIND ,NICE OLE RELIC.

looks like a family pic

The 'pea' is normally iron.

I always thought cow bells were cool, but I am becoming a crotal bell fan. Sweet collection.

Nice one!!! Congrats and HH

I love me some bells, nice score!

Very nice "family photo" ! Crotal Bells are always a welcome site.

Now that's a bell! Love digging up the big or small ones as there's so many different types, liking the shot of the 4 bells together. It's a simple pleasure to dig the dirt out of the bell, and giving it a shake, thinking "Welcome back after a hundred years + of being silenced".
My collection spans 400+ yrs of bells dug, and it's one find that I never get tired of digging up.:occasion14:

Thx! I sort of love any keeper target that rings nice and high, solid and distinct when hunting old farms. They are usually a coin or a crotal bell or some other cool relic. There are so many other signals in the mid range that end up being farm junk or the dreaded shotgun shell end.

Hit the farm again on the way to pick up Starbucks coffee for my wife and found the other half of No 10. Love seeing the edge of a crotal deep in the hole as you never know the condition of size.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504451987.495408.webp
Here are the 2 pieces joined again for the first time in maybe 100+ years.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504452031.683179.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504452041.798240.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504452049.714856.webp
My 7 year old wants me to find the last small piece and insert the klanger so she can hear what is sounds like, it will be a challenge. Thx!!!

You have a nice crotal bell collection developing Thad. Tough to find the big ones intact.
