We drove around 1200 miles this weekend to go digging in Bandera/Uvalde county TX just to have our trip cancelled due to bad weather once we got there..... What a heart break for me and my friends, all that time and money wasted...

So yesterday, still on vacation time me and a bud go out, very slow day and as i was walking back to the car, a few hundred yards away i see this little gem laying there, i was like no freaking way!!!!! The thrill of this was like finding a complete Folsom, 30 minuets after finding it my body was drained, felt like jello after the adraniline rush.

Here is the crazy part..... I went to a guy for a deep Riker case less than a week before, for our S Texas dig finds, and while im checking out a guy standing there asked me out of the blue if I have ever found a Cruciform before, I said no, but thats on the top wish list of my finds. Its strange why he would ask me that starting up a conversation of artifacts...

It has had some major time and care put into it, ground all around, no sharp edges, no nicks, get this, when you hold it up into the light, its translucent banded obsidian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have only seen one of these before, in a museum collection, in my opinion these are more rare that complete Folsom pieces.

Freaking AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ENJOY
CHONG

Ok, total shot in the dark here.

But could it be a type of fishing hook?

Not in the traditional manner, but I wonder if that thing gets swallowed with the bait, it gets lodged in the fish's stomach and allows the whole fish to be pulled out of the water?

Maybe that's laughably crazy, but dang, I hate mysteries. ;D

Not so crazy. I thought the same thing.....oh wait.

This is amazing to me. Ive hunted and collected American artifacts my whole life, and right here and now is the first time that i've been introduced to this rarity.

:icon_thumleft:I offer a huge congratulations to you! :hello2: :icon_thumright:

Big congrats to you my friend for your find and making the banner, simply awesome brother!!!!

Thanks guys for getting this up on the banner! It deserves to be seen, like many artifact hunters they dont even know these exsist, or have only read about them. Any questions feel free to ask,but i cant tell you what it was used for as im just as clueless :headbang:

And what better way to display it than put it in the display that was bought for it with me not even knowing it yet! This guy gets his whole frame to himself ;D

Chong2!! yes from it's shape and size i can see it Cruciform or Earspool which one have I earned the right too wear as a symbul of my importance? the pre historic American man or woman might have been thinking as they got ready for a party. maby not but sounds good to me. Terry way to keep on keeping on Chong!!.

 Congrats Chong I learn every day, Good eye! :icon_sunny:

Up until today, I had only read about them never actualy heard of one being found! Congrats! Hard to top that!

Wow! That's one incredible artifact! Obsidian is a very tough material. I can't even imagine how much work and dedication must have been necessary to create this little piece. Try making something like that using a Dremel. And then imagine making one without any modern tool. Simply amazing! Congrats for that beautiful find!

YO CHONG!!!!! You and Manchu need to stop finding all the rare stuff and let's us start finding first.........Awesome find man!!!!!! Wow.....................GTP

congrats for the banner ! :notworthy:

GTP , ill start slowing down after i find one as good as your Folsom 8)

Wow a first for me also , I have never heard of this amazing artifact , are other examples out there in a museum or such that anyone has ever seen about the same size? And in the first picture where you are holding it, the light seems to be reflecting onto your thumb in a very unique pattern. hmmmmmmmmmm Outstanding find!

Lol, I was gonna say chiclet too. And did you know: "Chewing gum is a type of gum made of chicle, a natural latex product, or synthetic rubber known as polyisobutylene. For economical and quality reasons, many modern chewing gums use rubber instead of chicle. "

chong2 Keep your eyes open for em on the jornada. they are out there also.
