Cru'Dads Exploring & Field of 500...
Picture 1: Shows Cru'Dad's two day (not many hours) exploring 4 different fields. He had a couple of Roman Coins, steelyard weight,Tudor Buckle & Pin, & 1914 Silver Shilling.
I decided to get the measure of the 'Field of 500'. I named it after the 500+ Roman Coins we found in about 6 weeks, 2 years ago. Last year we had a little try but only got 3 coins, rape stubble :P
The issue this time was the 7inch Wheat Stubble
I started by going up the flattish double tyre track I could find & as luck would have it, I hit on a Celtic Silver in 15 minutes (first find, after a couple of trash digs)
The odd thing is, Cru'dad found the exact type coin in Feb this year nearly 40 miles away, whats the chances
(similar scenario to our Celtic Gold story).
Cunobelin 'Sphinx' Unit. Circa 20 - 43 A.D

I also tried a new technique in the long stubble by going sideways inbetween where it grows, I could just squeeze the 11" coil in & lower enough, to find a further 10 Roman Coins in 2.5 hours. However, we will wait until conditions improve to carry this one on
