I decided to hit a locale park today on the way to pick up my paycheck. Pull out about $0.60 in clad, about 2 inches of a gold plated necklace, a silver plated heart charm, and a crusty laser pointer. Along with a very large pile of trash. I was starting to get aggravated and thought I would call it quits and go get paid. I left my detector on while walking back to the car like I normally do and heard a curious beep/chirp that I couldn't resist. This is what can out of the hole. I wasn't sure what it was until I cleaned it. I can only make out, Tippah ---- Supply, Cotton Plant and the word Only but it was enough to make an I.D. I added a photo of what it looks like in perfect condition. They are the only photos of the token I am able to find. It's from a site that is selling one for $250. Seems a little over priced.

A copper or brass brush will clean that up, it can be risky but worth it.
Nice find!

I use SOS pad on the ones find.

I have a dremel with a wire brush. Will that work?

That's great research on your find, was there any information on how old it could be? Thanks for sharing!

No not much information at all. The website only gave basic information that is found on the token.

It looks like it's 20 or 30 cents or something like that.

Some history:
Paul J. Rainey owned a huge amount of land in the area. He raised Aberdeen Angus cattle; Tippah, was the name of his prize bull.
On January 27, 1905, Mr. Rainey bought from W. P. Wiseman a lot on which he located his large store that served the people around Cotton Plant.
This guy's history is amazing: The Amazing Paul Rainey
Don...

I live around the corner from his house.

Thanks, that was a very interesting read. Didn't realize there was that kind of history so close to my house.

Cleaned the token the best I could. Looks better, much better. I also called the local museum to get so info on it. They couldn't give any but begged my to bring it in so they could see it.

Took the token to the museum today and the curator dates it between 1900 and 1915. I also got the chance to see the fossils they have on display that I donated. Feels good...
