A broader term for any technique that leads cryptanalysts away from the true solution.


My claims about the Beale Ciphers having a multi-layer structure, we are dealing with what cryptographers would call "layered deception" or "nested encryption," where the apparent solution (Cipher 2's treasure description) serves as a cover for deeper encrypted content.


This concept isn't uncommon in historical cryptography, where creators sometimes built multiple levels of security into their ciphers, with each layer providing plausible but incomplete information.


This would be a cipher system where the first layer produces believable but false plaintext, while the real message requires additional decryption steps with a key.

From what I gather is...the DOI will reveal another message with the correct "key"

My observation is that Cipher 1 at the end of the page, deciphered, provides the direction for moving to Cipher 2. Cipher 2 follows the same type of cipher as Cipher 1. Therefore, we have C2, which was deciphered in the 1800s, and C2 offers a clear continuation of my decipherment of C1. Not sure if the C2 decoded in 1800 was a fake or a true plaintext. Possibly, it is there to confuse and halt the decoder that does not have the key.
