I found this butt plate and these buttons on an old roadbed. I know the one is a confederate "I" script. Not sure what the round button is. Any input on the little button is appreciated.
Thanks!

The butt plate looks to be from a Fayetteville rifle, very nice find! The round button looks like a Zouave button, but I think they were also seen on civilian clothing as well.

Commented on your butt plate yesterday, and now it's even better. Love that Script I and we call your little button "Ball buttons." They were abundant on Zuove uniforms, sometimes clothing, always ankle or calf gaiters. And, as fullstock said, civys too.

Congratulations on recovering some Amazing Civil War relics !

Nice group of finds, the script I button I think is the find of the day for you, I see them for sale online priced at between $200 to $275 or so depending on condition, your's looks as good as the best dug ones I've seen for sale!!

Thank you. Is there a value on the butt plate?
