CTX 3030: Substitute for Printed Manual

I’ve read many threads on the CTX 3030 where a major complaint is the absence of a printed manual… “how can I take a computer to the field?” True.

A work around that might help is downloading the Minelab App. It has an option to choose whatever manual you need and you can then have it in your hand when in the field.

I know this doesn’t replace a printed version but I thought this option was worth posting for those who weren’t aware of the app version possibility.

Or take pictures of the pertinent pages with your smartphone to carry with you...

Greetings ColonelDan,

FYI, A PRINTED VERSION IS AVAILABLE. I feel, a printed manual should be available for referencing in the field. If you email Minelab America cust. serv., they will send you one. I got one that way.

I did download one to my computer for home reference. Printing one, to me, was not practical. It is a pretty lengthy manual with many diagrams, it would burn up an ink cartridge in a heartbeat! The printed manual is reasonably sized, 5 1/2" X 8" in booklet form, much smaller than an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of print paper. It is very easily taken afield. The Whites V3i has one built into it, to access anytime, great idea!! HH

I can view pdf's on my smartphone....most smartphones can do the same thing. Another option if you have the Kindle App on your phone, you can send the pdf to your kindle email, and it will show up as a book in your library.

Is there a list of Numbers to get an idea of what targets read what? My buddy got a CTX and I was planning on getting an Etrac soon, But we noticed if you stand at a different direction, the numbers are complety different.

I don't know specifically about any Minelab aps, but I would warn everyone to ALWAYS read the fine print before d/l-ing any ap. What you allow the ap provider to do to your data and phone will probably amaze and enrage you.

Again, I havent seen the Minelab terms, so this is no reflection on them.

I like the idea of taking pertinent pictures of the manual on my phone. Thanks, penzfan.

Here's a general idea where targets will fall (I just plotted the Fe-Co of over 600 targets.) Certain soils will alter the values, especially the Fe value, pulling it downward.

If it were on the E-Trac screen it would look like this:

Jackalope

I printed mine out

The Minelab app is great and good for documenting finds. You CAN store GPS location and photos in the app as well as read any owners manual of current machines ML makes.

Someone was selling a pocket sized CTX manual on ebay about a year ago. Pretty much the same information as the online manual but in a smaller, more user friendly format. Don't know if it's still around.

I just had my wife make me a nice COLOR one when she was at work.
Looked like the real deal I was happy when she did it.

I bought one here:
CTX 3030 Survival Guide (English)

Great small guide/manual.

That's the one. Nice little manual.

That may have been true but my recent email correspondence with Minelab customer service they only give me the part number for the manual with the price tag of $75 and I believe that is in CD from so I would still have to print it out on my computer. I mean really.
