🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Cufflink or broach and what type of shank is attached? Found along riverbank ,think it’s old but who knows

I'm going with a cufflink. It looks to of had and now missing smaller button on the other end of the shank that would toggle or flip inorder to slip through the button hole easily. My guess it was made around the turn of the 19th to 20th century. Probably had a gold wash finish to it when it was made.

Agree with cufflink. Looks too big (to me) to be a collar stud

When I see interesting cufflinks for a good price I usually get them. A few I've sold on ebay in the past went over $500. particularly ones made by Georg Jensen. One pair I paid $35. for sold for around $1100. They were made with 18k white gold and black onyx with small square rubies mounted in the center. They had a French 18k gold hallmarks and were signed Ghiso, which was a somewhat high-end jeweler in the first part of the 20th century.

I might be seeing things but when I zoom in it looks like lettering on this spot. Maybe a bit of cleaning will show it better??
