Found this old tag and would like to know who issued it, how old, and it's use. I'm assuming a luggage tag, but.....?

This was what I found online.
Acronym/name - L.H. & T. Co ( San Diego)
Primary Region/location - San Diego
Known business type - local transfer, luggage or trading/drayage enterprise ( archival details limited )
No info on what L.H.&T.Co stands for, you could check old city directories. Great tag !!!! Congrats !!!!

I think I've solved the mystery. I'm figuring the L.H. & T. Co is Lakeside Hotel and Transfer. There was a Lakeside Hotel close by that enticed people back east to come by train and visit their hotel. Back then, it was called El Cajon Valley. Today it's the town of Lakeside. The hotel was built in 1886-7 and changed names in 1905 to Lakeside Inn, so, it would have been from those early years. The Inn was torn down in 1920 and it's lumber used to build other buildings along their Main St. If anyone has any other options, please feel free to speak up. There's a Lakeside Historical Society in that town, so, I may go there and see what their experts have to say. Thanks everyone!

cudamark, checking w/ the historical society sounds like a good plan. I still recommend searching newspapers on-line & see if you can find the name of the hotel and/or L.H. & T. Co.

The newspaper site I use won't search on that. It says there are too many single letter words (even when I enclose the whole thing in quotes).

It could be Levi's Hack & Transfer Co. In the late 1800s they were transporting baggage and working with the Santa Fe Railroad in San Diego. Here are a couple of ads -
