I have to agree with Mike regarding his assessment of your find.
It's just one of those pieces of metal that you may never know exactly what it came from.
Some of the best clues or what it is will come from where you found it... what type of activity went on there in the past.
Was it found in a farm setting, at a mine site, in a local park or in the desert... your answer is likely in the missing details of your post.
